This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE bedtime book to read to my baby. I'd never heard of it before, but Amazon recommended it to me based on some of my other titles, and it had a ton of great reviews... for good reason! The illustrations are ridiculously adorable and just simple enough to appeal to my little guy (currently 5 months old). The rhyme and meter are great, especially because it uses regular language that makes sense instead of just random words that complete a rhyme (like many, many books do!). I also love that it almost exactly follows my baby's bedtime routine. I definitely see myself reading this to him for a long time to come, and to any little brothers or sisters in the future. My toddler absolutely lover this book. It's incredibly sweet, about loving someone unconditionally. After reading it maybe 30 times, we have decided that it's from the perspective of the teddy bear. We love the "I love your top side, I love your bottom side" page.
Super cute illustrations. Sturdy but not as much as normal board books. Still better than paperback for little peeps but if your tot is especially hard on books they might be able to break this one.
This book is just ok. I really wanted it to become partnof our nightly routine, because of the title/subject. But it has a strange cadence. My little guy and I just didn't like it. Church has others that are better. I would suggest Ten Tiny Toes instead.
I love this author, they also always do a wonderful job with the illustrations in her book. I always purchase these for baby showers or 1st birthdays and they are always a big hit.
We love Caroline Jayne Church books in our home. This one is a cute, but short, bedtime story that my son loves. The only thing even close to a downside is that it is a little short so we have to read it 3 times before he feels like it has been a sufficient "bedtime story". Still, I would buy it again and give it as a gift.
My 15 month son and I love this book! The rhyming is very cute and follows along on our usual bedtime, bath time, brushing teeth, story routine. I like that it showcases both a boy and a girl, as I notice my son looking back and forth at each (maybe a precedence for a future sibling? ;) I also like the structure of this book. The pages are sturdy but not too thick, and the outside covers are sort of padded or cushy. It also seems to be just the right length, not too short or long for a toddler.
i think this is the fifth or sixth book we have by Caroline Jayne Church. my daughter and i are great fans. it has always been my hope to talk to and show my daughter love. it seems more often than not it is easier to just highlight the "negative" in our children but we need to be sure that we encourage them ten times more. church's books do that with the ever resounding i love you. thank you church for your great works!!
